The Chamber of Commerce has numerous opportunities through our events and activities for businesses and other organizations to get involved through sponsorship.
The Cape Breton Business Hall of Fame has a mission of recognizing the accomplishments and contributions of our outstanding Cape Breton business leaders, to perpetuate and inspire the values of entrepreneurial spirit, personal integrity and community leadership.
The mission is achieved by honouring Cape Breton’s foremost past and present business leaders and by inspiring the leadership of the future. Inductees into the Hall of Fame are chosen for their distinguished accomplishments in business and the community.
Scholarships are awarded in honour of the inductees through Cape Breton University to outstanding business students who exhibit the same entrepreneurial drive and leadership spirit. To date, the Chamber has raised $71,000 that has been donated to our scholarship fund.
Inductees must meet certain criteria, including lifetime achievement, innovation, impact on economy, and recognition to Cape Breton.

The Excellence in Business Awards
The Excellence in Business Awards recognize outstanding quality, innovation and professionalism in local business within CBRM. From small businesses to corporations, these awards seek to acknowledge those that strive for excellence.
These awards are handed out at our annual Excellence in Business Awards Gala Dinner in October, during Small Business Week.
These awards spotlight firms in five areas:
- Knowledge-Based Industries
- Retail
- Service
- Tourism
- Non-Profit Associations
We also present the following special awards:
- Business Person of the Year
- Rising Star
- Export Achievement
- Community Development
- Family Friendly Business

This event is a fundraiser for the Chamber of Commerce, which allows the Chamber to conduct its work on behalf of the business community of CBRM.
Cost of Sponsorship: $800 (+hst)
Our Business After 5 networking series is an opportunity for seasoned or budding businesspeople in the area to informally network and socialize with other members of the business community of CBRM. It is appropriately positioned at the end of the workday, making it convenient for businesspeople to drop by on their way home. These events alternate between different sponsoring venues within CBRM, making each of them a unique experience. Free hor d’herves are on hand, and great door prizes from other Chamber members are distributed. Display tables are also available for those who wish to showcase their product or service for a nominal fee. There is no charge to attend these event.
Interested in hosting a Business After 5? We are looking for interested businesses that may want to show off their facility, and their services and products. If your business can provide the food and a cash bar, we can provide the organization to ensure that your event is well attended. We’re interested in working with you to make such an event a success!
Alternatively, if you are simply interested in sponsoring a Business After 5 at a local venue (of your choice, or ours), contact the Chamber to discuss the details.

Display Tables: At most of our Business After 5 events, we have a mini trade show, with tables available for displays.
Cost of Display Table: $50 for members, $100 for non-members.
